Los Angeles Under Siege
Stories of Resistance From LA’s Migrant Food Community
Los Angeles is in a moment of crisis. The impact of ICE raids across the city have left migrant communities gripped by fear and uncertainty, many of whom form the backbone of LA’s restaurant and food economy. From restaurant kitchens to street vendors, immigrants are the hands that keep L.A. fed—shaping the city’s culinary identity and sustaining entire communities through their labor and culture.
In partnership with NeueHouse, Los Angeles Under Siege is a timely conversation examining the impact of ICE raids and police violence against protestors—and the vital role local journalists, community organizers, and hospitality leaders play in documenting the truth, defending their communities, and mobilizing for change.
In conversation:
- Bill Esparza — Journalist at Eater LA, Host of Taqueando with Bill Esparza
- Janette Villafana — Multimedia Journalist at L.A. Taco
- Corissa Hernandez — Founder of Nativo, Board Member of Independent Hospitality Coalition (IHC)
- Antonio Diaz — Founder of Life & Thyme, Documentary Filmmaker
