Over Tea: Celebrating AAPI Identity Through the Arts

In partnership with The Aster—a boutique hotel and members’ club in Hollywood—join us for a special edition of Over Coffee Tea, where we honor AAPI pioneers in food, art, and design. Life & Thyme’s Over Coffee Tea, is an ongoing talk series making sense of the world—with coffee tea. Each session we invite a panel of experts to discuss topics and ideas centered around food, culture, creativity and social issues in order to better understand the things that matter most to our community at a grassroots level.

In conversation with Life & Thyme Culinary Director Casey Ikeuchi Felton, we welcome Mei Lin, chef of Daybird and winner of Food Network’s Tournament of Champions; Amanda Gunawan, founder of Only Way Is Up (OWIU) Design and part of LA Times’ Top 40 Under 40 Interior Designers; Asuka Hisa, artist, educator, and art curator serving as Director of Learning and Engagement at the Institute of Contemporary Arts Los Angeles (ICA LA); and Lydia Lin, co-founder of Steep LA, a modern tea house and cocktail bar in Chinatown.

Through candid conversations, our panel will share stories of resilience and innovation, weaving cultural storytelling and entrepreneurship into their journeys. From culinary expertise to reshaping stories in art and design, discover how they’ve turned challenges into opportunities for growth.

Artisanal tea will be provided by Steep LA.
