No. 1: Two Filmmakers Throw A Dinner Party

I met Chris Low during the production of Broken Bread With Roy Choi. Chris was my cinematographer and I was his director. We immediately bonded over absurdism, films, and of course, food. From shooting in the streets of Tijuana to the canals of Amsterdam, we took every opportunity to adventure together and document the culture of others these past couple of years.

But today, I want to celebrate his culture and his upbringing as a first generation son of Malaysian immigrants living in New York City. Chris and his family recently opened a restaurant in Brooklyn serving popular Malaysian hawker dishes, specializing in Hainanese chicken. They call it Hainan Chicken House.

Chris will be cooking a few dishes from the restaurant at his Arts District loft. I’ll be pouring wine (and probably mezcal too). He asked me to invite a few friends… so here I am inviting you.
