Building Life & Thyme’s Editorial and the Current State of Journalism

October 21, 2020

Creating a body of editorial work takes a global village. In collaboration with hundreds of contributors around the world, Life & Thyme has been a platform for stories that cover a vast range of topics to inform and meet evolving member needs. But behind the scenes can be its own story, and in this webinar, we share a little of what goes into the process. From pitch to finished product, we’ll share the steps involved in creating solutions-based journalism both in digital and print formats, from sourcing pitches to editing and our independent business model. We’ll discuss the Life & Thyme broad level structure, and discuss the state and future of journalism as a whole.

On hand for the conversation will be L&T Senior Editor, Stef Ferrari, to discuss story flow, connecting with correspondents and editorial vision; Gia Hughes, Associate Editor, who will speak to copy editing, tone and fact-checking processes, and Founder/Editor-in-Chief Antonio Diaz, to reflect on building an engaging journalistic structure through memberships, the evolution of our coverage beyond the restaurant world, and the importance of transnational reporting in the modern era. L&T Community Engagement Editor Rebecca Roland moderates.
