Stephanie Canizales, Karla Vasquez, & Yesika Salgado On Being Salvadoran in L.A.
This past October, Life & Thyme hosted Books & Vines: Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month in collaboration with the historical Los Angeles Athletic Club. Offering an alternative perspective on Latinx Los Angeles, Central American women authors Dr. Stephanie L. Canizales (UC Berkeley Assistant Professor of Sociology and Author of Sin Padres, Ni Papeles), Karla T. Vasquez (Food Writer and Author of The Salvisoul Cookbook), and Yesika Salgado (award-winning poet and author of Corazón, Tesoro, and Hermosa) joined Los Angeles Athletic Club’s Director of Programming & Partnerships, Ricky Sanchez, in a conversation about their literary journeys and how their identities have shaped their work.
