Sumoud: A Story of Palestinian Resilience
Reem Assil is a Palestinian-Syrian chef based in San Francisco, California. Her restaurant, Reem’s California, has garnered several awards and accolades through her food’s ability to bridge Arab street food with California ingredients and Arab hospitality. Using food and community, Reem works to fight for a more socially and economically just world.
Our latest film, Sumoud: A Story of Palestinian Resilience, is a personal and intimate look into a day in the life of Reem Assil in the midst of pain and grief of her own family. For months, the state of Israel has been committing war crimes against humanity and genocidal acts on the people of Palestine in Gaza—and continues to do so—killing over 30,000 people, many of them children.
