The Lion’s Espresso: Exploring La Marzocco’s Coffee Legacy

February 21, 2024

“The idea behind the design of a La Marzocco is to give baristas a classic shape so they don’t want to change it in two or three years. Our mechanical goal is to create products that can last, more or less, forever.” — Stefano Della Pietra, La Marzocco Head Designer

At the heart of Florence, Italy, stands La Marzocco, a symbol of espresso culture and craftsmanship since its founding by the Bambi brothers in 1927. From its inception, La Marzocco has been synonymous with innovation and tradition, embodying the spirit of Florentine artistry. Today, Stefano Della Pietra carries forward this legacy as the head designer, blending the rich history of the brand with cutting-edge design techniques.

In our latest short film, Life & Thyme founder Antonio Diaz visits the jewel of the renaissance to uncover the rich legacy that La Marzocco has imparted on the coffee industry across the globe. From the bustling courses inside the cultural coffee center, Accademia Del Caffe Espresso, to the bespoke workshop, the Officine Fratelli Bambi, to racing down the countryside of Tuscany, join Antonio and Stefano in “The Lion’s Espresso”.

Produced in partnership with La Marzocco.
